Robert “Bob” Sessa

Welcome Friends, I appreciate the visit!

Hi folks, I’m Robert Sessa the founder and FORMER owner of Sessa Plumbing & Heating (1978-2004). I'm not affiliated nor do I own Sessa Plumbing any longer. So if you’re looking for them, you’re in the WRONG PLACE! Unfortunately, we both show up in Google search, but have absolutely no affiliation whatsoever!

Want the Owner to actually make your repairs? Or are you satisfied having an apprentice learn at your expense?

I’ve actually come to the point in my career where I’d like to scale down a bit. I didn’t say stop, but approaching year 73, YIKES! I’ll be cutting down on my “in the field time” to devote more time to my YouTube Channel / youtube.com/bobsplumbingvideos where I post videos on basic home plumbing repairs. So if you’re looking to “do it yourself”, check it out! You can also visit my video gallery here for recently completed work in your neighborhood.

I secured my Master Plumbers License in 1978 at the age of 28 and opened my first company Sessa Plumbing & Heating which I sold to my employees in 2004. FYI I am no longer affiliated with that company which operates independently of Robert Sessa Plumbing. So be sure to ask for me, you may be talking to the wrong company.

Don’t Always Believe What You Read

Back before the Internet became huge, the Yellow Pages were the primary source for plumbers and drain cleaners to get their message out there. They were supposed to verify trade licenses from the local buildings department before printing their books, but they rarely followed through and the proof was seen when the books were published. There were pages of unlicensed contractors and the public had no way of knowing who they were hiring.

The best bet when looking for qualified tradespeople is to always ask friends, family, or neighbors for referrals. Ask how they were treated, did the job go as planned, did they stand behind their work, did they quote you a firm flat rate price before proceeding with the work. If you like the answers you get, then the next step is to interview the company and ask for referrals of satisfied customers they have recently serviced. A well-qualified company will gladly give you referrals and if they don’t, then it’s time to move on and find one who will.

Always ask for their credentials

Keep in mind that all plumbers are required by law to be licensed by the  New York City buildings department. They are required to carry mandatory liability insurance and if they have employees must carry worker’s compensation, and disability insurance as well. I’m in the New York City area and also hold a Home Improvement Contractors License #1339922-DCA issued by the Department of Consumer Affairs.

Check before you hire!

If you do decide it’s time to hire a plumber, make sure they are LICENSED. You can find out if the company you’re considering is licensed by checking HERE It’s your only recourse if things go wrong! The last thing I want is to get a call from my local buildings department regarding a consumer complaint! If you still have questions about hiring a plumber, please drop me a line at info@robertsessaplumbing.com, I’ll be glad to steer you in the right direction!
