Here’s my take on Baxi or any other combi boiler that’s currently available in the marketplace. I’m not a FAN! Not because they don’t work, but because most homeowners don’t fully understand how they work or expect them to do more than they’re capable of. This new (to the U.S.A) technology is highly sophisticated and MUST be installed exactly as the manufacturers have outlined in their installation manuals. After all, that’s why they printed them!
Cutting Edge Technology
Everyone wants the latest and greatest in cutting edge technology, but be careful what you wish for! In the correct application, these systems can work well when properly installed. But be aware as they will turn into a nightmare if the manufacturer’s specifications are not followed to the LETTER. For a trouble free operation, I tend to stick with current technologies and a mix of the new, a.k.a. a “Hybrid System” Maybe not as efficient, but in terms of long term trouble free operation, they can’t be beaten.
Unlike conventional heating or hot water producing equipment, combi-boilers must be installed by qualified, certified technicians. Unfortunately, in an effort to save money, most homeowners (you) will purchase these boilers “ON-LINE” and then go find a couple of guys who do side work to install them. Well, you’ll find out quickly that your troubles are just about to begin. The maintenance costs will far exceed any energy savings promised. I.M.H.O. Want to save money? Install a hybrid boiler which uses and a combination of old and newer technology.
Never the less there are thousands of these combi boilers installed throughout the New York City area that still requires service. I’m am a Baxi Certified Installer #C10018 since 2013 and most of my experience with wall hung combi boilers is with the Baxi brand. So if you’re the proud owner of a Baxi product that’s giving you an issue, give me a call and hopefully, I can get you up and running with the least amount of pain!
Are you the proud owner of a first generation or current generation Baxi-Luna 310 Comfort Combi Boiler? Be aware that Baxi no longer makes a replacement for this non-condensing boiler. In the event of a complete boiler breakdown, You’ll have no choice but to replace it with a condensing boiler which will require upgrading the venting system and providing a means for the condensate to be drained away safely. HOLD ON TO YOUR WALLETS!
